Renewables Energies
We are dedicated to developing, building and operating Renewable Energy assets.
Today, we operate six renewable energy plants in the country: two photovoltaic solar plants (Caldenes del Oeste in San Luis, with 30 MWp and Amanecer, in Catamarca, with 13.6 MWp) and four wind farms (Mario Cebreiro, in Buenos Aires, with 100 MW; Vientos Los Hércules, in Santa Cruz, with 97.2 MW; Malaspina, in Chubut, with 50 MW; and the Río Cullen Wind Farm, in Tierra del Fuego, with 8.4 MW). Additional projects are currently under development, including two solar plants in Chaco and green hydrogen generation.
Río Cullen Wind Farm
The new wind farm in Tierra del Fuego includes two wind turbines and four SAFT battery modules with a capacity of 8.4 MW and 9.2 MWh of storage. This hybrid system supplies the energy demand of our liquid and gas treatment plants in Río Cullen and Cañadón Alfa and will allow us to reduce around 635 ktCO₂eq by the end of the Austral Basin concession. With this development, our facilities are now the first TotalEnergies Exploration & Production site worldwide to operate using a hybrid power generation system.
Mario Cebreiro
Mario Cebreiro is a 98.6 MW wind farm located in Bahía Blanca, province of Buenos Aires. The wind farm is equipped with 29 VESTAS wind turbines of 3.4 MW of power and delivers an estimated energy generation of 390 GWh per year, enough to supply 110,000 homes in Argentina.
Vientos Los Hércules
Vientos Los Hércules is a 100 MW wind farm located in the province of Santa Cruz, in southern Argentina. The wind farm is equipped with 27 Senvion wind turbines, with a capacity of 3.6 MW, and an estimated energy generation of 435 GWh per year, enough to supply 110,000 homes in Argentina.
Malaspina
Malaspina is a 50.4 MW wind farm located in the province of Chubut, in southern Argentina. The wind farm is equipped with 14 Senvion wind turbines of 3.6 MW of power. The farm has an estimated energy generation of 225 GWh per year, enough to supply 60,000 homes in Argentina.
Quitilipi and Tres Isletas
Currently under construction in the province of Chaco, the Quitilipi and Tres Isletas solar parks will incorporate more than 64,000 bifacial photovoltaic panels (Quitilipi: 27,552 and Tres Isletas: 36,512). Together, they will have an installed capacity of 40.68 MWp (Quitilipi: 17.50 MWp and Tres Isletas: 23.18 MWp) and an estimated annual generation of 86 GWh.
Amanecer
Amanecer is located in Santa María, province of Catamarca. It has more than 23,500 bifacial photovoltaic solar panels, an installed capacity of 13.6 MWp and an estimated energy generation of 35 GWh per year, enough to supply the equivalent of 12,700 homes.
Caldenes del Oeste
Caldenes del Oeste is located in the province of San Luis. It has more than 92,000 photovoltaic solar panels and an installed capacity of 29.9 MWp, with an estimated energy generation of 60 GWh per year, enough to supply the equivalent of 17,000 homes.
With these projects, TotalEnergies in Argentina contributes to the economic and sustainable development of the region, as well as to the development of local populations through fluid dialogue and ongoing collaboration with local schools, NGOs and other institutions.
